The clerk shot in mid-December at a Santa Paula discount store has died, police said Sunday.
Police Chief Don Aguilar said Georges Touma, 50, of Ventura, succumbed to his injuries Saturday morning at Ventura County Medical Center. He had been listed in critical condition since the shooting at the Thomas 99 Cent Plus Store on Harvard Boulevard, police said.
No arrest has been announced.
Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance to obtain additional information including surveillance video in connection with the shooting reported shortly before 6 p.m. Dec. 11.

Police are focusing on witnesses on the boulevard, including those in areas near the store and in surrounding neighborhoods before, during and after the incident.
