The family of an Australian holidaymaker who died in a road accident have said they will miss her “cheeky humour” and “kindness”.
Police were called to London Road, Benfleet, Essex, at about 23:30 GMT on 7 December after reports of a serious crash.
Yvonne Jones, 85, from Australia, who had been visiting family in the UK, died after being hit by a car that then left the scene.
A family tribute said: “We will miss her cheeky humour and above all her kindness to everyone she met. We love you, rest in peace, mum.”

It added: “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Yvonne Jones, our mum, nan, great nan, sister and aunty.
“She was born in London and was unexpectedly taken from us on 7th December 2024 in Essex whilst on holiday, visiting her family.
“Australia has been mum’s home for over 50 years with her children, Lee, Julie, Debbie and Tracy and their extended families and will be her final resting place.”
Investigations found Ms Jones had got off a coach at a bus stop about 50m (164ft) from the Kents Hill Road junction, before the junction with Thundersley Park Road.
After the coach left, she crossed the road before the collision with the Jaguar saloon-style car.
