A Cincinnati man is facing charges in Butler County for allegedly supplying the drugs that led to a woman’s overdose death earlier this year.

Auqeith Byner, 41, was indicted earlier this month on involuntary manslaughter and corrupting another with drugs, according to Butler County Common Pleas Court documents.

In March, family members of Sherry Geis, 36, found her unresponsive in her bed from an apparent overdose. First responders arrived at the scene and pronounced her deceased. Her cause of death was later confirmed to be an accidental drug overdose of fentanyl and cocaine.

An investigation uncovered that a drug transaction happened at a United Dairy Farmers that was just around the corner from Geis’ home, according to the Fairfield Township Police Department.
During the investigation into her death, detectives identified Geis’ brother-in-law, Byner, as the person who sold her the drugs.
Byner is currently incarcerated in the Kenton County, Kentucky jail on unrelated drug charges. Once he’s extradited back to Ohio, he will face the new charges in Butler County Common Pleas Court.
