The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department’s Child Abuse detectives and a case manager with the Department of Child Services began an investigation of the child’s death.
Detectives ultimately arrested Julia Sizemore, 20, and Kevin Gavarrete, 26, Sunday on a preliminary charge of neglect of a dependent resulting in death, IMPD said.
According to reporting from WTHR, the boy’s name is Kayden Gavarette, according to the boy’s aunt, Jessica Ryan.
“This is a devastating and unimaginable tragedy. The loss of a young life, especially so close to the holidays, is heartbreaking for our entire community,” said Deputy Chief of Criminal Investigations Kendale Adams.
