KCSO: Man, woman arrested after traffic stop turns up firearm, drugs

A man and a woman were arrested Friday when deputies with the Kern County Sheriff’s Office found them in possession of a firearm and drugs during a traffic stop, the agency said.

The KCSO Gang Suppression Unit conducted a traffic enforcement stop in the area of Oswell Street and County Club Drive, according to KCSO. It said David Arvisu, 43, who was driving and was later identified as an active gang member, opened the door on his side of the vehicle and discarded a Glock-style ghost handgun and a magazine before continuing to drive.

Arvisu then pulled over at Oswell and Bernard streets. KCSO said deputies found about 11 grams of methamphetamine and 1 gram of fentanyl inside the vehicle.

Arvisu and Elisa Magana, 29, were arrested and taken to Lerdo Jail on suspicion of multiple drug, gang and weapon-related violations, according to KCSO.
