Three people were shot and a suspect arrested on Tuesday night in Oxford Village.
The incident, at about 6:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve, occurred a short distance from Oxford High School, the scene of a deadly mass shooting in November 2021. The close proximity of gunfire to the school is causing PTSD — post traumatic stress syndrome — among families whose homes are near the school and who lived through the mass shooting, according to an online chat room.
Oakland County Sheriff deputies “have the suspect in custody and have recovered a gun,” according to the department’s Facebook page.

“We are asking that people stay out of the area while the major incident is being processed. The area is an active crime scene (but) it is believed there is no further danger to the public,” the Facebook page said. The shooting took place on Ray Road between Lapeer Road and North Oxford Road.

The three shooting victims were taken to local hospitals, according to the Sheriff’s Office. No information was available on Tuesday night about the condition of the victims or what the shooter’s motive may have been.
