‘I’m a pilot – all passengers should ask flight attendants one question when boarding’

Travelling can sometimes feel like a bit of a drag – as some of us simply want to arrive at our destination without any fuss.

However, a pilot has shared advice that can make your journey feel much more exciting. But you’ll have to ask the flight attendants to help you when you’re boarding.

For a more “unique” experience, the American airline worker advised asking cabin crew if you can take a peek into the cockpit. While this may feel like a cheeky request, they are often more than happy to oblige.

What’s more, you may get the opportunity to snap a few photos, sit in the pilot’s chair or even ask any burning questions you may have about the aviation industry.

In a popular video, the TikToker advised: “As an airline pilot, the one thing that customers under-mine the most is the ability to come up and talk to flight crew. If you’ve ever wanted to see inside of a cockpit, talk to the pilot and ask questions or talk about flying, all you have to do is ask the flight attendant.

“I would say nine out of 10 times we’re more than happy to talk to people and show them these things. Of course, it might not happen in the very moment you ask, as we may be a little busy. You may have to wait until later on in the boarding process or once we arrive at the final destination.”

Who knows, you may even end up making the pilots’ days when you visit them. The airline employee added: “I personally love it when someone comes up and they just want to see what’s going on… We love to share what we do.”

Since it was posted, the video has garnered more than 400 likes and plenty of positive comments. One responder gushed: “Stop that’s the cutest freaking thing ever.”

Meanwhile, others said they’d followed this advice in the past. And just like the pilot said, it ended up making their journeys a lot more enjoyable.

One gushed: “I remember seeing the cockpit as a little kid and it was so cool!” A second said: “We were prepping my son to fly by himself. His godmother asked and the pilots let him come up, they explained everything, took pics and gave him a toy plane and pin.”

And a third added: “I can attest. As a kid every year my mum made me take a photo in the cockpit and I recently decided I want to be a pilot and have been talking to the ones from my flights!”
