The French military has bombed two sites in Syria linked to the Islamic State terrorist, Defence Minister Sébastien Lecornu said on Tuesday.
The attacks took place on Sunday as part of the international military operation Inherent Resolve, which has been targeting Islamic State in Iraq since 2014 and in Syria since 2015, Lecornu wrote on X.
A video released by the minister and the French military showed airstrikes against two targets on the ground.

No information was provided on the outcome of the bombing, but France’s BFMTV broadcaster reported that a total of seven bombs were dropped on two targets.
According to the channel, the attacks were carried out from a French airbase in Jordan.
While Islamic State was largely defeated in 2019, its cells remain active in Syria.
Western observers are concerned that the terrorist group could exploit the chaotic situation in Syria following the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad’s regime to attempt a comeback.
