EastEnders fans ‘solve’ who attacked Cindy Beale after Elaine Peacock discovery

EastEnders think they have worked out who attacked Cindy Beale (played by Michelle Collins) on Christmas Day after Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) made a discovery on Tuesday (January 7).

Cindy was brutally smacked around the head with a shovel only minutes after her affair with Junior (Micah Balfour) was exposed in a dramatic showdown between the Beales and Knights. She remains in a coma in hospital as the two clans start to point fingers on who the mystery attacker is.

George Knight (Colin Salmon) has secured an alibi from his vulnerable brother Kojo Asare (Dayo Koleosho) placing him away from the scene of the crime. On Monday, George went to visit his ex-wife to see how she was doing, and while at the hospital George spotted his son Junior.

During the latest trip to Walford (January 7), former boxer George also retrieved his blood-stained shirt from its hiding place, only to conceal it again when wife Elaine approached him.

To save face, he made up a story about being worried about their marriage and admitted to visiting Cindy, insisting he had a right to see the mother of his children.

But Elaine remained hurt that George had, at Christmas, called Cindy ‘his wife’, and called George out for only telling her about the visit before Junior could.

Eventually, Elaine gave George the green light to move back into The Vic after he had been living at the Bed and Breakfast, but he was instructed to stay in Linda’s (Kellie Bright) room while she was in rehab.

But Elaine’s joy soon drained from her face when she opened a cupboard to find the blood splattered shirt. George’s daughters Anna (Molly Rainford) and Gina (Francesca Henry) confirmed the garment was worn by George on Christmas Day.

However, EastEnders fans believe the shirt is a red herring and George is really covering up for his brother Kojo, who dislikes Cindy after he fell from height after discovering her affair.

The theory would also explain why George convinced Kojo to say they were together the night of Cindy’s attack.

Taking to X, one EastEnders fan wrote: “George covering for Kojo #EastEnders”, while a second exclaimed: “We’re saying Kojo’s the one who attacked Cindy, agree?! #eastenders.”

A third chimed in: “I think George asking Kojo to cover for him is a red herring. It wouldn’t be this obvious. I think Kojo attacked Cindy. #EastEnders.”
