Washington shelters rescue pets from Los Angeles area during wildfires

Many shelters in Washington are at or nearing capacity, but that’s not stopping them from helping our neighbors to the south.

Seattle Humane says it’s partnering with Wings of Rescue and Paws For Life K9 Rescue to pull pets from the Los Angeles area as a series of wildfires torch the state.

“This will free up shelters to intake the many pets displaced by these wildfires and hopefully reunite them with their families,” Seattle Humane wrote on its Facebook page.

This Wings of Rescue flight will be landing in Boeing Field on Sunday, and Seattle Humane says it then hopes to begin the long process of checking in more than 60 pets on Monday.

Those pets should be ready for a forever home on Tuesday if you’re looking to adopt. Seattle Humane says there will be a special ‘Palisades Wildfire Rescue’ icon affixed to the profile pictures of pets pulled from Southern California.

“We hope to be able to offer more assistance to our embattled shelter partners in the future,” the shelter says.
