Several people allegedly bitten by bed bugs while they slept at a Myrtle Beach motel have filed a lawsuit against the location and its owner.
Four adults and six children from South Carolina filed the lawsuit against Palms by the Beach, 1900 S. Ocean Blvd., and its parent company Liberty & New Life LLC.
Richera McGhee, Romelro Miller, Tierra Smith and Chantale Smith claim that they and six minors were staying at the motel on Aug. 2 and 3, 2024, when they were bit by bed bugs in their rooms, the lawsuit said. Management was notified of the bed bug situation, the suit said.

A message left for Palms by the Beach was not immediately returned.
The suit, filed Jan. 7, 2025, claims that the bed bugs were in the mattresses, bedding and carpet of the room that the plaintiffs were staying in.
The motel should have known that the rooms provided were infested with bed bugs and that they didnât treat the room before the plaintiffs were injured, the suit said.
The motel and its owner had a duty to keep the hotel in âa reasonably clean and safe condition,â as the bed bug infestation caused a âthreatâ to plaintiffsâ safety, the suit said.
Because of this negligence, the 10 people received injuries, causing them to be under the care of a doctor and incur medical expenses, the suit said.
The suit is asking for an award of damages.
