The impact caused the RAV4 to travel across the lanes and rest on the right shoulder of the interstate, authorities said. Meanwhile, the Camry stopped within the lanes, blocking traffic, following the collision.

Moments after, a 2024 Yamaha motorcycle operated by a 29-year-old man from Mountain Center collided with the Camry, CHP said. His identity is being withheld pending family notification by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The motorcycle rider suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.
