HP Contributes to Trump Inaugural Fund With Tariff Risk Looming

(Bloomberg) — HP Inc. is making a contribution to Donald Trump’s inauguration, joining Microsoft Corp., Amazon.com Inc. and other major technology companies funding festivities this month for the incoming US president who has vowed to impose sweeping tariffs.

An HP spokesperson confirmed that the company was giving funds without disclosing the sum. Alphabet Inc.’s Google, Meta Platforms Inc. and OpenAI Chief Executive Officer Sam Altman are also among those contributing to the fund.

Trump has repeatedly said he’ll impose massive new tariffs upon entering office on Jan. 20, calling them “the greatest thing ever invented.” His plans would be particularly disruptive for hardware makers like HP that source components and manufacture goods around the world.

“We are really willing to collaborate with the new administration to reach the best solution for both our customers and our shareholders,” HP Chief Executive Officer Enrique Lores said during a November earnings call when asked by an analyst about the potential impact of tariffs.
