The Phoenix Suns are bringing in a new center.
The Suns struck a deal with the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday afternoon and traded for 7-foot center Nick Richards, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. In exchange, the Suns will send Josh Okogie to the Hornets along with three future second-round draft picks. The Suns will also receive a future second-round draft pick from the Hornets in the deal.
Richards has averaged 8.9 points and 7.5 rebounds per game this season, his fifth with the Hornets. He was first selected in the second round of the 2020 NBA Draft out of Kentucky, though he’s largely come off the bench for the Hornets throughout his career. He’s made nine starts this season in Charlotte.
Okogie has averaged six points and 2.9 rebounds per game this season, his third with the Suns. He’s averaged about 14 minutes per game off the bench.
