“With this announcement, a bloody chapter in the history of the Palestinian people, who have suffered greatly under Israeli aggression, comes to an end,” Lebanon’s caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati said.
The United Arab Emirates’ Foreign Ministry described the agreement as a pathway to alleviating the dire conditions in Gaza. The ministry called on both sides to uphold the agreement to end the suffering of hostages and Palestinian prisoners while stressing the urgent need to allow humanitarian aid into the blockaded coastal enclave.
