Shocking moment gang of ‘misfits’ carry out savage attack on transgender teenager lured to London rollerdisco

This is the shocking moment a transgender teenager was lured into a car park and savagely attacked in a hate crime organised on Snapchat.

The victim, 18, was invited to a roller disco in Harrow, northwest London, but those she believed she was going to socialise with had instead hatched a plan for violent revenge.

She was sucker-punched to the ground before being stabbed nine times, punched, kicked, and stamped on repeatedly.

Transphobic slurs were hurled at the victim during the shocking attack before she was left behind, bleeding and with a weak pulse.

The Old Bailey heard discrimination of her gender identity was behind the group attack.

She survived the attack after passing members of the public intervened, but has been left with psychological trauma and thick scars from her wounds.

“I find it difficult to trust people”, she told the court.

“I’m always in fear of leaving my house. I never thought someone could have so much hatred towards me.”

She added: “In the past I have experienced animosity towards me due to being transgender, but never thought that someone would have so much hatred for me and want to assault me in the way they did.”

Those responsible, branded a “collection of young misfits”, took to social media to brag about the assault, which happened on February 10 last year, and even posting footage of what they had done online.

On Thursday, Judge Philip Katz KC condemned the “abhorrent” attack which had been motivated by a “distorted notion of revenge”, as he handed down jail terms.

Judge Katz branded her a “dangerous offender” who posed a risk to the public.

A crying woman stormed out of the public gallery as the sentence was delivered, shouting “I love you Summer” and “people get less for murder”.

Bradley Harris, Camron Osei, and Shiloh Hindes, all 18, were sentenced to three years in youth detention.

A 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named, was given an 18-month youth rehabilitation order.

All members of the group admitted causing grievous bodily harm with intent, while Betts-Ramsey also admitted possession of a knife.

The victim, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, requested that Scotland Yard release the shocking footage of the attack, to show the reality of the hate crime incident.

Describing the “vicious” assault, Judge Katz said: “She was punched to the ground and repeatedly kicked and stamped on.

“Rather than help, all of those involved ran off.

“She suffered really serious physical and emotional injuries.

“Kicking and standing on someone when they are on the ground is abhorrent.”

The court heard the group were linked online through Snapchat.

In January 2024, the victim was with Harris at his house when the pair kissed and she performed oral sex on him, the court heard.

Soon afterwards, another friend told Harris that the woman was a “tranny”, prosecutor Deanna Heer KC said.

She denied it, but when Harris picked up a knife and said, “I’ll stab you if you lie”, she felt intimidated and admitted she was transgender before Harris told her to leave.

When Harris told the group she had lied to him, they turned on her, Ms Heer said.

When the victim asked the group when they would be next meeting, Harris responded: “(I’m) not your mate… you tranny”. Other members of the group encouraged the woman to arrange a fight with Betts-Ramsey, but Ms Heer said it was “all a ruse” to attack her.

Phone evidence revealed that during a call, Betts-Ramsey told a friend: “I have to go to Harrow to beat up some… a f****** tranny bro.”

On the day of the attack, the woman left her home, believing she was going to a roller-skating event with the group, the court heard.

Betts-Ramsey, from Barnet; Harris, from Harrow; Osei, from Tadworth, Surrey; Hindes, from Southwark; and the 17-year-old boy were all dressed in dark clothing, with masks and hoods, and were waiting for her at the bus stop.

Once at a nearby car park, she was “immediately attacked”, and she had no time to say anything or do anything to defend herself, the court was told.

As Betts-Ramsey was stabbing her, the others continued to attack her with kicks and punches for about 45 seconds before the group left the scene, the prosecutor said.

The group later bragged about the assault, posting footage on social media, Ms Heer said.

The 17-year-old boy sent the victim a message which said “Ur lookin sweet”, the court was told.

That night, a message was sent to Betts-Ramsey which said: “Stabbing a girl cus she’s trans… its disgusting”, to which Betts-Ramsey replied: “IT deserved it”.

The victim says she has suffered panic attacks since the incident and has struggled to sleep, adding that she fears she might not be able to work as a model thanks to her injuries.

Despite the incident being captured on stark CCTV, Betts-Ramsey broke down in tears and protested her innocence when she was first brought to court.

But she later pleaded guilty, admitting she had been the ringleader and one carrying a knife.

A 17-year-old girl who admitted to robbing the woman’s handbag after the attack. She was handed a supervision order by Judge Katz.
