Boy, 12, dies after stabbing in Birmingham as 14-year-old is arrested

A 12-year-old boy has died after a stabbing in Birmingham.

West Midlands Police said the boy was found with “serious injuries” in Hall Green at 3pm on Tuesday.

Another boy, 14, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

The 12-year-old was taken to hospital but died as a result of his injuries.

The force said his family had been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Det Insp Joe Davenport, of the force’s major crime unit, had previously launched a police hunt to find the perpetrator.

14-year-old arrested

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “A boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder following a fatal stabbing in Birmingham.

“The boy, 14, was arrested after a 12-year-old boy was found with serious injuries near Scribers Lane, Hall Green shortly after 3pm today [Jan 21].

“The 12-year-old was taken to hospital but sadly died as a result of his injuries.

“His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

“We are continuing to appeal for any information which could help in our investigation. We have set up our Major Incident Public Portal where members of the public can submit photos or video evidence.”
