14-year-old pleads not guilty in fatal shooting of man in Yonkers'

A 14-year-old Yonkers boy pleaded not guilty Thursday after an indictment was unsealed charging him with murder in a fatal shooting last summer in Doyle Park.

The boy, who The Journal News/lohud is not naming because of his age, had already been in custody on an attempted murder charge from an earlier shooting last summer.

He was arraigned before Westchester County Judge Helen Blackwood in the youth part of criminal court on charges related to the fatal shooting of Daquan “Drizzy” Glenn, 29, who was ambushed along with a friend by two masked gunmen in Doyle Park on Aug. 26, 2024.

The shooting was around the corner from the Whitney Young apartment building where Glenn grew up and was a popular resident. The 23-year-old friend was shot but survived. No motive has been made public.

Reached by phone, Glenn’s mother, Gwendolyn Little, said she had been unaware of the arraignment but was pleased an arrest had been made. She bemoaned the prevalence of guns on the streets and how young her son’s alleged killer was.

“These young kids are just out there firing guns all the time,” she said. “If he would’ve known my son he would’ve been his best friend.

“My son loved life and so many people loved him,” he said. “When they took my son they took a lot from me, I miss so much about him. I’ve been waiting for this for four months.”

The teenager was shot himself last month and was arrested at that time on an attempted murder charge related to a shooting July 27 in Yonkers.

He remains held without bail at Woodfield Cottage, the county’s juvenile detention facility in Valhalla, and is due back in court on Feb. 6. His lawyer, Yvonne Borkowski, declined to comment.
