Young mom with baby threatened

Police are investigating a report that a group of eight young adults harassed and then pulled a knife on a teenage woman in downtown Savage while she was walking with her baby last weekend.

The 17-year-old girl from Savage was walking her baby in a stroller on 124th Street near Lynn Avenue at about 2:46 p.m. Sunday (March 14) when the group of men – between the ages 18 and 20 – began harassing her, according to Capt. Dave Muelken. The group of men started asking the girl questions that made her feel intimidated, so she called her boyfriend to come and pick her up.

The boyfriend was only about a block away, so he arrived quickly, Muelken said. When the girl’s boyfriend arrived, one of the men pulled a knife on the couple, he said.

The couple then put the baby in the car and drove away, at which time the group – described to police as six white men and two black men – scattered, Muelken said.

Police searched the area, but did not locate any of the suspects. The case remains under investigation.
