Man arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Sorrento, Lake County

TAVARES — A man has been arrested a man in connection with a shooting death in Sorrento, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday evening.

Justin Joseph Raymond Fout, 31, will be held on a charge of second-degree murder.

According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, on Thursday deputies responded to a shooting at the 31500 block of Colby Place in Sorrento.

On arrival, deputies found the body of Justin Kates, 37, in the roadway. He died from a gunshot wound.

Witnesses told deputies that Kates and Fout were involved in an altercation before Fout shot the victim.

Fout left the area in an older model white Dodge Ram van alongside a female passenger and person of interest, identified as Patricia Neeley.

The van, according to descriptions from bystanders, may have both front and rear end damage, and the rear should have red transfer paint from striking another vehicle.

The sheriff’s office on Friday circulated pictures of Fout, Neeley and the van. Later in the day the agency announced that law enforcement had located and arrested Fout.
