A cyclist was left bruised and battered after a van plowed into him while riding in the village of Piercebridge, England, on January 29.
Footage captured by a camera attached to Denis Shackleton’s bike shows the van speeding around a corner, veering onto the opposite side of the road before colliding with him.
“The van driver was a man in his 60’s and he was quite shocked at the damage he had caused and showed great concern as to my health,” Shackleton told Storyful. “He offered to take me to hospital as I had suffered a bruised right arm after impacting with his wing mirror and although at the time I did not notice I had whiplash to my neck for the following three days.”
Shackleton said he declined to go to the hospital because he was due for an appointment later that day for a post cancer operation meeting.

“He then ran me and my bike to my house 20 miles away and was fully apologetic all the way there. He gave me his insurance details and asked me to ring him in a couple of days to let him know how I was feeling,” he said.
Shackleton said his injuries had since subsided with no lasting damage and he was now back in saddle, riding his spare bike around. “I have persuaded a number of my riding buddies to invest in on bike cameras,” he said. Credit: Denis Shackleton via Storyful
