Four federal offices in Kentucky have been closed by the Department of Government Efficiency, according to the department’s savings website.
The website lists the U.S. Social Security Administration offices in Campbellsville and Hazard, along with the Lexington-Fayette regional offices for the Farm Service Agency and Small Business Administration, with the status of “True Termination – Agency Closed Office” as of Friday. DOGE claims the closures will save the federal government more than $2 million collectively.
DOGE, a Trump administration initiative to slash federal spending led by tech-billionaire Elon Musk, has played a central role in cost-cutting measures across the government, which has resulted in thousands of federal positions and contracts being eliminated, though some cuts were later paused or reversed following court orders.

The department claims its actions so far has resulted in $65 billion in savings across the government, but some fact-checkers and other media outlets, including USA TODAY, have disputed the findings.
