Fire out in Ukraine’s key nuclear power plant after Russian attacks

Kyiv: A fire broke out at Europe’s largest nuclear power plant in Ukraine. The fire was caused by a Russian bombing. According to the foreign news agency, the mayor of the city of Dnipropetrovsk, Dmitry Orlov said that the fire in the nuclear plant was caused by the continuous bombardment of Russia. No change in the radiation levels have been recorded, says Ukraine’s state nuclear regulator. Russian forces have taken the control of the nuclear site.

Ukraine’s foreign minister says an explosion at a nuclear plant would be 10 times more devastating than Touchnoble. Russian troops reportedly tried to enter the city with tanks and seize the nuclear plant but were met with stiff resistance from Ukrainian troops and locals.

Officials at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) say they are in contact with Ukrainian authorities about a Russian attack on a nuclear plant and a fire.

On the other hand, US Secretary of Energy Jennifer Greene has said that the nuclear plant in Ukraine has been shut down under safe procedures and regulations
