Islamabad: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has stated that the coastal city of Gwadar will experience a landfall by the sea cyclone Beepar tonight.
According to the details provided by the NDMA, the cyclone biparjoy is currently located 145 kilometers southwest of Karachi. The sea cyclone is expected to make landfall in Gwadar tonight.
The NDMA had previously stated that the cyclone will collide between Gwadar and the Indian state of Gujarat. The affected areas are expected to experience thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rainfall. The series of cyclonic winds and rains will continue until June 17.
Severe flooding and waves up to 6 feet high are expected along the coastal belt of Sindh and Balochistan.
Meanwhile, the Pakistani army has initiated rescue operations in the affected areas. According to the latest figures, 97.4% of the population has been safely relocated to secure locations.
The Corps Commander Karachi has stated that the Pakistani army, Rangers, Navy, NDMA, and administrative authorities have successfully completed the relocation process within the designated timeframe.
The Corps Commander Karachi has ordered the stakeholders to remain on high alert until the passage of the cyclone and has instructed the deployment of additional troops in Malir and Hyderabad. The distance from Karachi’s southern region to Thatta is 220 kilometers, and from Thatta to Hyderabad, it is 225 kilometers.
