AES Ohio is warning customers after receiving reports of a scam targeting customers.

The utility company said scammers are claiming to represent AES Oho and demanding immediate payment through third-party sites, according to a social media post.
The callers also threaten to disconnect power for past-due balances.

AES Ohio stated on its Facebook page that they don’t “require or strongly recommend a specific payment method.”

The company added it offers customers different payment options but doesn’t provide “barcodes for payment at third-party sites.”
