After short pursuit by Ohio Highway Patrol, Massillon man charged with OVI for 13th time

NEW PHILADELPHIA − A Massillon man who has 12 prior OVI convictions — four of which were felonies — was again charged with operating a vehicle under the influence.

Paul E. Whitt, 57, was driving a 2023 Buick Verano when a trooper stopped him for a traffic violation on U.S. 250 in Tuscarawas County, according to a news release from the Ohio Highway Patrol.

Whitt fled and a short pursuit ended when he failed to make a right turn onto Barnhill Road, drove off the road and struck a ditch. He was transported to Union Hospital for possible injuries, then incarcerated at the Tuscarawas County Jail, the release stated.
