An American couple sampling Wetherspoons for the first time shared their delight and astonishment at the vast array of options available. YouTube vloggers Jeremy and Cara, known online as @TheMagicGeekdom, toured an unnamed branch of the famed pub chain which included a hotel, sharing their gastronomic adventure in a new video documenting their jaunts across the UK.
As they settled into the pub atmosphere, they chronicled each choice from the extensive menu. Cara immediately mentioned she was “overwhelmed” by the abundance of choices at Wetherspoons, expressing surprise at the drink selection and the sprawling range of food – from curries to burgers and pizzas.
Cara remarked: “I think the thing I was not expecting is just how overwhelming the menus are, like, there are so many drink options just on the drink menu.

“The food menu is full of food options. I feel like it has the tiniest, tiniest font because they have 300 options. I had no idea that you could get curry and things like that at a Spoons.
“I wasn’t expecting to have such a huge selection to choose from on the menu so we asked our Instagram followers what their recommendations were.”
After ordering their food, they critiqued each dish as it arrived, praising the quality of meats and cheeses, and once again expressing their fondness for British culture—a sentiment that has grown during their nearly year-long exploration of the UK. Cara’s top pick from the dishes she and Jeremy sampled was the curry.
She enthused: “I don’t want to say we have bad Indian food in the US, but I just don’t think it’s as a good as the UK and this is really good. It’s just really flavourful, it’s got just a little bit of heat to it, it’s not that spicy, but it is so nice.”
Jeremy agreed, though with less vigour, adding: “That’s a perfectly acceptable, solid, pretty decent curry…and we’ve had better than this obviously, but for being very plentiful and inexpensive, it’s pretty good.”

Overall, Cara described their Wetherspoons dining experience as “pretty good” and gave everything a rating of “at least a seven or an eight”.
It’s worth noting that Cara and Jeremy are not the first Americans to document their initial Wetherspoons encounter. Last year, influencer Amber Karcherian and her friend Jared Gregersen also visited a Wetherspoons, albeit with mixed results.
The duo faced online ridicule after referring to Wetherspoons as a restaurant instead of a pub and were puzzled over whether gravy should be poured into or on top of a pie, as reported by the Daily Express.
Following their departure from the unnamed Wetherspoon establishment, Amber reflected positively on the pace of life in the UK: “In America, we are always in such a hurry. We’re always in such a rush, like, we gotta go, go, go, we gotta get things done, we gotta eat our food, we gotta order our food.
“We gotta get out because we have somewhere else to go. But here it just feels so nice and laid back that people can just come and relax and have a good time and just enjoy this beautiful country of yours.”
