Anderson County Republicans react, comment on shots fired at Trump rally in Pennsylvania

With information about a shooting involving former President Donald Trump slowly coming to light, local Republicans are commenting on the incident.

Contacted by The Oak Ridger Saturday night, state Rep. John Ragan of Oak Ridge stated: “The events of today affecting President Trump in Pennsylvania demonstrate that too many people cannot become involved in politics without becoming unhinged. We must protect our goverment of the people, by the people and for the people from those who try to resort to violence rather than reasoned discussion. Our republic’s survival depends upon our ability to disagree within the bounds of civility and orderly debate. Pray for our nation and those injured in this heinous incident.”

His challenger in the Anderson County Republican Primary, Rick Scarbrough of Clinton stated: My thoughts and prayers are with President Trump, the rally attendees, and the brave law enforcement who acted quickly to ensure the safety of the President and others.”

This story will be updated as more reactions are received.
