Andover teen, 17, found dead in truck submerged in drainage ditch

Jan. 13—A local teenage driver was found dead after the pickup he was driving was discovered submerged in water in Andover, authorities said.

New Hampshire State Police identified the deceased driver as Wyatt Carleton, 17.

State Police found a 2010 Gray Nissan Frontier pickup flipped on its roof submerged in a draining ditch along Currier Road.

Troopers were notified at 11:53 p.m. Sunday.

Based on a preliminary investigation, troopers believe that the driver was traveling west on Currier Road when, for reasons that remain under investigation, the truck veered off the road to the left as it was crossing over a culvert.

The vehicle flipped over the edge of the road and landed in the drainage ditch, coming to rest on its roof, authorities said.

The initial investigation determined the vehicle appeared to have drifted on the icy road a few hundred feet before it went off into the drainage ditch.

The road was closed for about three hours.
