LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Officials with the Arkansas State Police are investigating an early morning high-speed pursuit that left one person injured.
According to a release from the ASP, the incident happened at 4:30 a.m. Friday when troopers found a Dodge Ram 1500 that had previously escaped from officers with the Little Rock Police Department.
Officials said that the vehicle was traveling east on Baseline Road at over 100 mph and the chase ended when the truck crashed at the intersection of Baseline Road and Arch Street Pike.

Troopers said that when they approached the truck and ordered the people inside to get out, they heard a single gunshot. According to the release, troopers found the driver, a 28-year-old man from Heber Springs, suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Officials said that the passenger in the vehicle, a 44-year-old woman from Little Rock, was suffering from crash-related injuries. Both were taken to a local hospital for treatment where officials said the driver is in critical condition and the passenger remains hospitalized.
Troopers said that when they searched the vehicle, investigators discovered a 9mm handgun, an AR-15 rifle and illegal drugs.
