Auburn University Nursing Student crowned Miss America

Abbie Stockard, an Auburn University Nursing Student and current Miss Alabama crown holder, has now been crowned Miss America.

Stockard was one of 11 finalists in the Miss America competition in Orlando, which lasted from Dec. 31- Jan. 5. There were 52 participants overall, including participants from all 50 states, Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico.

Sunday night’s recognition is the culmination of a dream come true.

After competing for three years since starting her freshman year at Auburn, she was finally crowned Miss Alabama 2024. Stockard’s journey included titles like Miss Cahaba Valley 2021, Miss Trussville 2022, and Miss Hoover 2023.

Her passion for nursing stems from a heart of compassion and a desire to serve others. “I believe that I have a heart of compassion and empathy, and I am at my personal best when I am serving others,” she explains.

According to the Miss America website, Stockard will receive a scholarship award of $50,000.

Stockard’s personal commitments include being a member of the Auburn University Tiger Paws Dance Team and a Student Recruiter.
