Nov. 19—A Baltimore man was charged with attempted first-degree murder in connection with a shooting on Interstate 95 that sent a motorist to the hospital Monday morning and halted rush-hour traffic in Laurel.
Kevin Gross, 46, was arrested Monday and being held without bond at the Howard County Detention Center pending a bail review later Tuesday morning. In addition to the attempted murder charge, he faces counts of first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and malicious destruction of property stemming from the shooting near Maryland Route 216.
Troopers responded to the highway at around 4:30 a.m. Monday and found a 28-year-old Laurel resident lying on the shoulder of northbound I-95 with gunshot wounds, Maryland State Police said. He was taken to Shock Trauma and was being treated for injuries, police said.

Investigators believe Gross and the victim were “acquaintances,” and an altercation had likely ensued prior to the shooting, though police said it was unclear whether the victim was inside or outside his vehicle when he was shot.
The ensuing investigation by police prompted all lanes of northbound I-95 to be closed between the Intercounty Connector and Route 216 for several hours on Monday morning.
