BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans baffled by ‘disturbing’ and ‘never seen before’ part of show

Viewers of Strictly Come Dancing were left flocking to social media as they became confused by a ‘never seen before’ part of the show which some branded ‘disturbing’ and ‘unfortunate’.

It was a big night on Saturday (October 5) for the BBC One dance contest as it was the annual Movie Week special which kicked off with a very yellow routine from the show’s professional dancers as transformed into minions from the Despicable Me franchise.

Fans also couldn’t believe their eyes as Kai Widdrington, who was left without a celebrity dance partner this year, appeared as the film’s villain, Gru, donning a bald head and a prosthetic nose.

The rest of the evening saw the remaining couples, minus Nick Knowles and Luba Mushtuk as he suffered a last-minute injury, channel their inner film stars as they performed routines with songs from the likes of George of the Jungle, Harry Potter, Dreamgirls and Rocketman.

But it was during the judges’ critiques for each couple that Strictly viewers became distracted as the new dramatic lighting behind Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke, left some audience members’ legs on show.

@droidcam said: “Rather unfortunate positioning of two lady audience members on Strictly Come Dancing tonight. Looks like the loo door has been left open. #strictlycomedancing #Strictly.” @Lou3Ceri replied: “I came here to post this too!!! They really need to fill those gaps with additional up lighters so we don’t have to see disembodied legs – what if they ‘did a Sharon Stone’?”

Has there always been people’s legs behind the judges ? #Strictly.”
