Strictly Come Dancing fans have been left fuming as they shared fresh fears for Paul Merson’s place in the competition. The former footballer has been giving the BBC One dance contest his all with professional dance partner Karen Hauer.
And over the weekend, fans of the BBC One dance show were rejoicing as Paul was seen performing a classic ballroom number alongside professional dance partner Karen.
They gave an ‘unforgettable’ Quick step performance to I Won’t Dance by Fred Astaire and Craig Revel Horwood said that he was loving the progression from Paul after landing at the bottom two more times than anyone else on the series so far.

Meanwhile, Motsi Mabuse said that the routine ‘melted her heart’ before they received a total score of 23 points out of a possible 40, their highest in the competition yet.
It was then during Sunday night’s (October 13) results show that it was revealed Paul and Karen had made it through to week five of Strictly’s 20th-anniversary series after surviving the public vote.
But Strictly fans have now expressed their concern as Paul and Karen’s next song and dance were revealed as a Samba to Car Wash by Rose Royce.
Making an assumption about what may be coming from the pair’s performance, @rachel.09.xx said: “Back to giving Paul stupid dances again. Trying to make him the joke act. He was brilliant last week because he was given a proper song and dance!!” @lisalithgowrobertson wrote: “Paul been given the poison chalice of a samba this week.” @jess3treats commented: “What did Paul do yo you guys??!? Omg?!? One fast dance after the other.”
Claire Cairns wrote on Facebook: “Stitching up Merse again. He did brilliantly Saturday now back to nonsense.” Charlotte Grix fumed: “Fair enough a samba for Paul and Karen but to car wash, really? Could have at least given him traditional samba music but instead he’s been made back into the joke act. He suited a traditional dance and costume last week. So unfair.” Tracey Jones added: “Paul been given the dance of death….”
