BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans ‘sobbing’ over Dianne Buswell’s personal announcement on show

Strictly Come Dancing fans have said they were ‘sobbing’ as they were reminded of some personal news about Dianne Buswell. The professional dancer has been competing for the past nine weeks with Chris McCausland in the BBC One dance contest.

Over the weekend, they pulled off their highest score of the series as they opened Saturday night’s (November 16) live show which was broadcast live from the world-famous Blackpool Tower Ballroom for one weekend only.

Chris and Dianne were the first of the eight couples to make it through to week nine of Strictly’s 20th-anniversary series to take to the world-famous ballroom floor.

They kicked the epic night of dancing off by delivering a classical American smooth routine to Canadian-born singer Paul Anka’s Jump that earned them their first 10s of the series Head judge Shirley Ballas told black tie-wearing Chris that he had the “best feet I’ve seen in a long time”, and “didn’t miss a beat”.

Anton Du Beke said “if anyone can beat that tonight, I’d be amazed”, before they earned 37 points from the judges, as co-host Tess Daly revealed they were the 100th Strictly couple to perform in Blackpool.

It was also revealed that Chris’ mother, father and sister were watching him in the audience and it all became too much as Dianne became emotional as they received their highest score of the series, hopefully taking them one step closer to performing in front of her mum and dad as they prepare for their visit from Australia.

It was then confirmed during Sunday night’s (November 17) results show that Chris and Dianne had made it through to week 10 of Strictly’s 2024 series. During their chat with Claudia Winklamen, Chris and Dianne spoke about their Blackpool week nine dance which got them two 10s.

Dianne said: “I was just so pleased for you, Chris, to get a 10 in Blackpool,” to which Chris corrected her with “two 10s”. Dianne continued: “Sorry, two 10s, because you honestly do deserve it.” Claudia then announced: “Mr and Mrs Buswell are coming to see their baby girl,” which was met with cheers by the Strictly cast.

The host continued: “I know it means so much. They love you and Chris, this is what you wanted, you wanted to dance in front of your mum and dad. And Chris, you want this amazing woman to feel proud, out there in front of her family.” Chris responded by saying that they’d set themselves this ;goal’ from the beginning of surpassing Blackpool week and couldn’t believe that they’d managed to “get here”.

And it made Strictly viewers emotional. @ashasmushtuk said: “I am actually sobbing at claudia saying about diannes mam and dads bags being packed. amazing, she’s waited for this for so long #Strictly.” @evermorebuswell commented: “Cannot describe how happy i am for dianne to finally have her parents in the audience watching her.” @Diannejoesuggw1 wrote: “So so happy dianne’s parents get to see her and chris dance, she must be so excited! Dide note, claudia seems to also love dianne so much!”

@strictlysvito posted: “I feel like i could actually cry listening to chris and dianne talk about mark and rina coming over to watch her dance! she deserves this so bloody much!! 8 years doing this job and for her parent to FINALLY see her perform in person – ughhh perfect!2 @smileybuswell added: “Currently crying whilst boarding a plane and watching the blackpool results show because of how happy dianne and chris are and the fact that her parents are finally gonna watch her dance on strictly live from the audience, so special.”
