A new wave of state grants will benefit expanded resources of Beaver County’s criminal justice and youth support programs.
According to local representatives, four separate grants were awarded to the region via the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency to ensure essential services have the resources to continue operating. The total funding is more than $702,000 and will support services such as adult parole, interventions for at-risk youth and protection of crime victims.
âBeaver County has a strong network of local officials, criminal justice workers and social service professionals committed to protecting the rights of crime survivors and at-risk youth and providing successful probation and parole resources,â said Rep. Rob Matzie, D-16, Harmony Township. âBut the programs they administer require a steady flow of resources. The new funding will ensure those supports continue.â
Funding was allocated to the following organizations:

$266,977 to Beaver County Commissioners to strengthen adult probation and parole services;

$250,000 to The Prevention Network to support the ongoing delivery of their intervention, prevention, education and treatment services for at-risk youth;

$138,240 to Beaver County Commissioners to support programs to protect crime victimsâ rights; and
-
$47,000 to A Childâs Place to support services involving identification, prevention and prosecution of child abuse.
Last week, Gov. Josh Shapiro’s office approved more than $40 million in grants for similar services across Pennsylvania. The state is seeking an expansion of support services for crime victims and the implementation of children’s advocacy centers.
