During Thursday’s episode of This Morning, hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley found themselves in an awkward situation.
The conversation revolved around a recent report indicating that a quarter of baby boomers are more interested in friends with benefits relationships than any other kind.
Guests Vanessa Feltz and Nick Ferrari, who fall into this age group, shared their views on the topic.
Nick, who is happily partnered, said: “This is people aged 60 through to 69, so the chances are they have had a relationship or two.
“They’ve probably had their children and they’re reaching that period of their life where they just want a bit of fun. To go out, to have perhaps a meal with somebody, maybe a drink afterwards and back for a coffee. Not, to put it too crudely, a little bit of cuddly wuddly.”
Recognising that Nick was alluding to sex without explicitly saying it, the ITV hosts couldn’t contain their laughter.

Vanessa cringed, exclaiming: “Oh god! ” while Cat remarked: “That wasn’t crude at all! That was the Teletubby version.”
As Nick continued his point, he suggested that boomers want a bit of “ha ha” after a nice meal out, reports the Express.
This led Ben to ask: “Nick, is that how you seduced your partner? You say, ‘You fancy a bit of cuddly wuddly?’
The conversation made Vanessa and Cat squirm as they seemed less than thrilled with the direction it was taking.
Despite this, Nick joked: “I don’t think I use the words cuddly wuddly, no I will confess that!”
Vanessa voiced her disagreement with the report about boomers seeking friends with benefits.
She stated: “Am I looking for that?Absolutely not! I think that would be devastating to a friendship because if you’re having the benefits, it’s not quite a friendship.
“But, it’s also not quite a relationship so you haven’t got the love and contentment, security of what you hope a successful relationship is.
“To me, it feels like the worst of both worlds, rather than the best of both worlds.”
This Morning continues weekdays on ITV from 10am.
