Body of missing Hesperia woman found in aqueduct

The body of a 69-year-old Hesperia woman who went missing during the early-morning hours on Saturday was recovered from the California Aqueduct on Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

Supranee Poolswasdi vanished from her home in the 13800 block of Mayapple Street about 2:30 a.m., according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. The neighborhood sits just west of the aqueduct.

She had left her house without her cellphone and wallet and was not seen or heard from after, sheriff’s officials said in a written statement.

After reaching out to the public for help in finding Poolswasdi, her body was discovered in the California Aqueduct after a sheriff’s K-9 tracked the missing woman to a trail that lead toward the nearby aqueduct, then divers were sent in to investigate, officials said.

The remains were retrieved from the water at about 1 p.m., according to a sheriff’s department statement.

“Investigators did not locate any suspicious indicators or signs of foul play,” the statement said.

An autopsy will be carried out by coroner’s investigators to determine a cause of death.

Saturday’s death was the second reported in the aqueduct in Hesperia this week.

The remains of 16-year-old Rebecca Gutierrez were found in the aqueduct near her home on Honeysuckle Avenue on Tuesday following a week-long search for the missing teen, according to sheriff’s and coroner’s officials.
