Buff Bagwell Is Back In Jail For Violations Related To 2020 Arrest

Buff Bagwell is in a good place and has maintained his sobriety for nearly three years now. However, issues from his past continue to follow him, as he is going back to jail due to a violation of the rules in his accountability program.

Bagwell made the announcement on his YouTube channel and said he was sharing this news for transparency. He is in a serious program and he might think he had minor violations, but the rules are strictly enforced. Bagwell noted that the shirt he was wearing in the video (recorded January 27) is the same one he’ll have on in his mugshot, which will eventually be released. He wants people to know that he hasn’t slipped up, and that he’s answering for past offenses.

According to Cobb County Sheriff’s records, Bagwell was booked on multiple charges, including:

  • not carrying and producing a driver’s license

  • open container violation

  • giving false name, address or birthdate to a Law Enforcement Officer

  • Following too closely

  • Hit and run; Duty of Driver to Stop at or Return to Scene of Accident

Buff Bagwell explains what his jail sanction is

All of the current charges listed have N/A listed for the offense date. However, Bagwell clarifies in the new video his new violation was related to his 2020 arrest. In May 2021, The Georgia Gazette also reported Bagwell was arrested on multiple charges, but those are also the same ones currently listed on the Cobb County Sheriff’s website.

Buff maintained that he’s still sober and he’s in the best place, but he’s going back to jail for 72 hours for a “jail sanction” and doesn’t want people to worry.

“A sanction means you’ve done something wrong, you’ve violated rules. It could be community service, it could be bench duty, it could be a fine, a sanction fine. Mine is called a jail sanction,” Bagwell explained. “But again, it ain’t gonna say, ‘Marcus Bagwell got arrested today for violating program confidentiality rules.’ It’s not going to say that. It’s going to say that I got a DUI and the world is going to think that I relapsed. That’s what this video is for, to let everybody know that I’m in a great place… this is just a little pause, a little crack in the road for me. This is nothing, but I don’t want people to worry.”

Buff Bagwell continues to have issues related to his arrest

Bagwell also had issues last year, as it was reported that he was arrested in July and November 2023. However, Bagwell clarified that this was also related to the original arrest, and it lists his original offense(s) any time he gets a violation in his DUI Court Program.

“Just wanted to clarify to everyone that I am 11 months sober (tomorrow). I see there is news out that I had to spend time in jail for a DUI,” he said at the time. “But this was from the original offense years ago. I did get a recent sanction because I didn’t document a recent trip out of state properly.”

“Still sober despite the reports,” Bagwell wrote on Twitter. “Unfortunately whenever I get a violation, it lists my original offense from 3 years ago. I did serve 24 hours for losing my temper Thurs-Fri and I’m working keeping my cool every day.
