Catania airport closed until July 19 due to fire

SICILY: Report by: Chief Ikramuddin: According to global Times news Agency Europe, All activities at the airport of Catania (Sicily, Italy) are suspended until July 19 due to a fire that occurred there last night, RAI News 24 said, The Global Times Europe informs. Everyone in the airport building was evacuated.

The fire started on the lower floor, the flames quickly spread to the terminal. Firefighters quickly put out the fire, but the building was heavily smoky. The management company announced that all departure and arrival flights were canceled until 2 pm on Wednesday, July 19. A few years ago, a major fire broke out in the international terminal of Rome’s Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci Airport. Then its work was hampered for several months, it needed a lot of repairs and extensive reconstruction was carried out. The airport in Catania is the main one in Sicily, receiving dozens of flights a day.
