Central Florida temps could drop into 30s overnight into Sunday

A cold front over Central Florida this weekend will continue to make for overnight temperatures that could drop into the 30s before a couple days respite ahead of a second cold front next week, according to the National Weather Service in Melbourne.

“Tonight will be the coldest night this week, and due to the clear skies and light winds, night-time cooling will
be very efficient,” said NWS meteorologist Melissa Watson in the forecasters discussion.

Overnight lows will range from the mid to upper 30s and low 40s in the northern portions of the region, hitting the mid 40s farther south.

“Wind chill values on tonight will be limited from falling much lower than the actual temperature due to the light winds,” Watson said. “However, patchy frost will be possible, mainly north of the I-4 corridor, where temperatures and dew points fall into the upper 30s.”

Dry, cold air already made for a cold morning Saturday, and winds of 5-12 mph were blowing from the northwest. Winds will shift by the evening to the northeast, and die down overnight.

Afternoon highs Saturday will range from the low 60s across the northern portions of Central Florida to the mid to upper 60s farther south.

Winds will pick up again on Sunday, but from the south and bring temperatures up to the low 70s and overnight lows in the low to mid 50s into Monday, with highs on Monday reaching into the mid to upper 70s.

Then a stronger cold front will approach Florida from the west overnight Monday.

“Afternoon highs will be in the mid 50s to low 60s from Tuesday through Thursday, with temperatures ranging from mid 50s across the north to mid 60s across the south on Friday,” Watson said. “Current forecast has overnight lows
on Monday falling into the 40s, with mid to upper 30s possible north of 1-4.”

Tuesday into Wednesday could be even colder and conditions will remain so through the end of the week.

“Temperatures will be well below normal for this time of year,” Watson said. “Afternoon highs will be in the mid 50s to low 60s from Wednesday through Thursday, with temperatures ranging from mid 50s across the north to mid 60s across the south on Friday and Saturday.”

And overnight lows will continue to be in the low to mid 30s across much of the region.

“Lows will warm up slightly Friday and Saturday nights, with temperatures ranging from upper 30s to low 40s across the north to low to mid 40s across the south,” Watson said.
