Charles Lee Spain Jr. sentenced to 25 years for 2023 murder of wife in Wytheville

WYTHE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – Over a year after his arrest, a Wytheville man has been sentenced to second-degree murder for the death of his wife, Angela Dawn Spain, that occurred on May 4, 2023.

On Wednesday, August 7, 53-year-old Charles Lee Spain Jr. was sentenced to 25 years for second-degree murder, willfully defiling a dead body and strangulation.

Spain Jr. was arrested on May 4, 2023, after his wife was found unresponsive in their home on Lots Gap Road. The Roanoke Medical Examiner determined her cause of death to be blunt force trauma to the head and strangulation.
