(ISPR, Rawalpindi): Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir visited troops busy in a field exercise in a training area near Rahim Yar Khan.
The COAS was briefed on the exercise. The aim of the Shamshir-e-Sahra exercise was to enhance professional skills and battlefield procedures required to deal with future challenges in an operational environment.
The COAS witnessed integrated fire and combat drills by various elements including Armored, Infantry, Mechanized Infantry, Artillery, Air Defense, and Anti-Tank Guided Missiles. Aircraft of the Pakistan Air Force also participated in the exercise.
The exercise also incorporated electronic warfare capabilities and information operations which are required to suppress enemy communication capabilities and disinformation campaigns during war.
The COAS spent the day with the troops in the exercise area. During his interaction with the participating troops, the COAS appreciated the training standards, operational preparedness, and high morale of all ranks. The COAS emphasized that the armed forces must remain prepared at all times to thwart any misadventure by the enemy.

The COAS was received on arrival in the field area by the Corps Commander Karachi and Inspector General Training and Evaluation.
