Connecticut man arrested, accused of driving the wrong way on I-95 in Wells

Oct. 12—A Connecticut man is accused of operating under the influence after driving the wrong way on I-95 near the area of Wells and York and causing a crash.

Maine State Police, along with York and Kittery Police, responded around 1:15 a.m. Saturday morning after receiving reports of a person driving the wrong way near Wells.

York Police located a white Chevrolet traveling south in the northbound lanes near mile marker ten, MSP spokesperson Shannon Moss said in a statement.

A passing vehicle crashed near mile marker 11 northbound while attempting to avoid the wrong-way driver. The victim was not injured, Moss said.

York Police and state police stopped the wrong-way driver near mile marker six in York. Police identified the driver as Timothy Willis, 58, of Glastonbury, Connecticut. Willis was arrested and charged with operating under the influence.

The incident is still under investigation, Moss said.
