Coronation Street star Luca Toolan on “turning point” for Mason

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street star Luca Toolan has revealed a potential “turning point” for his character Mason Radcliffe in upcoming scenes.

Earlier this week, Mason’s brothers Logan and Matty set out for revenge after being taken in for questioning over the theft of Tim’s car, due to a secret tip-off from Mason.

In scenes set to air on Monday (November 18), Betsy suggests that Mason should lie by telling the brothers that Tim grassed them up.

Logan and Matty later force their way into Tim’s car and warn him that they’re about to teach him a lesson, before striking again a couple of days later by cornering Betsy in an alleyway and stealing her phone.

Discussing how Mason will react when his brothers go after Besty, Toolan said: “I think that could potentially be a turning point for Mason.

“It’s a step too far, Mason can take all the stick from Matty and Logan, but as soon as they go after someone who is vulnerable, and someone he deeply cares about, then that will push Mason too far and I expect that he will want to fight back.”

The actor also said that he feels responsible for Logan and Matty going after Tim to ‘teach him a lesson’.

“Similar to Stu, Tim is a person who has taken Mason under his wing and both Yasmeen and Sally had a little bit of resistance to allow him to stay, but Tim has fought for Mason and even snuck him in while Sally is at pilates,” he said.

“Mason isn’t stupid and he’s certainly not taking Tim for granted so he would feel entirely responsible if he was to come to harm. His brothers are trying every possible thing to ruin Mason’s chances of starting a good life, but hopefully it doesn’t come to that…”

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
