Coronation Street star Sam Aston ‘tried to blame’ one of his castmates for an error behind the scenes on the ITV soap. The actor as fans know is famed for playing Chesney Brown in the long-running show.
Viewers have watched the character – and the actor who plays him – grow up on screen as Sam was just 10-years-old when he was cast in the ITV soap back in 2003 as the son of Cilla Battersby-Brown and the half-brother of Fiz Stape.
Over the years, Sam’s much-loved soap alter-ego has been involved in a whole host of storylines – from being held hostage to becoming a dad of quads, to now being a doting husband to Gemma while trying to keep the family afloat with five children between them.

But despite having spent more than 20 years working on the famous cobbles, it appears mistakes can still be made. Jack P Shepherd took to Instagram to share a video which gave a glimpse behind the scenes at the Trafford-based Corrie set.
The actor, famed for playing David Platt, filmed as he went whizzing past some of the cast’s dressing room, as well as a portrait of himself and his on-screen family. He then got to where Sam gets himself ready before his scenes and the sign on the door read: “Chezney”.
Jack could be heard giggling behind the camera and he shared the video with his Instagram followers and said: “Lads got a new dressing room @samaston93.”
Fellow Corrie star Colson Smith, known for playing PC Craig Tinker, was quick to respond, writing: “He tried to blame me for this,” alongside an angel emoji before Abi Webster actress Sally Carman-Duttine and Andy Whyment, known for playing Kirk Sutherland, simply posted crying laughing emojis in the comments section. Bernie Winter star Jane Hazlegrove also replied: “Little Chutney!”
Sam, meanwhile, reshared the post to his Instagram Story and said: “Should have known it was you.” It comes as the soap star prepares for a new challenge in early 2025 as he’s set to take part in Dancing on Ice.
He’ll be partnered with professional figure skater Molly Beth Lanaghan who announced the news in November and alongside pictures on the cobbles with Sam, she said: “The wait is over! We’re SO excited to be team Sam & Molly for @dancingonice 2025!! Proper buzzing to be partnered together and to represent the North!! Now let’s lace up and glide into this journey together!”
