Coroner’s office identifies Coachella man found dead; deputies still investigating

The Riverside County coroner’s office has identified the man whose body deputies found just outside Coachella and Indio earlier this week.

Deputies were sent to investigate a reported dead body in the 83-000 block of Avenue 51, which is in an unincorporated area between Coachella and Indio, around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday. They found Zachary Sandoval Roberts, 31, of Coachella, “with trauma and obvious signs of death,” the sheriff’s department said in a press release.

The sheriff’s department is still investigating Roberts’ death. It asked anyone with information about what happened to contact Central Homicide Unit Investigator Hood at 951-955–2777 or Thermal Sheriff’s Station Investigator Lara at 760-863–8990.
