A crash about 3 miles west of Salem on Highway 22 snarled traffic entering the city and heading toward the Oregon Coast on Thursday evening.
The crash, which took place about 4 p.m., was in the eastbound lanes, but traffic slowed in both directions.
The crash was reported in a problem area along the highway and had been cleared as of 5:15 p.m., but traffic was snarled for miles in each direction.
One lane of traffic was closed for about an hour while first responders cleared the scene.
