A Connecticut man was arrested Tuesday and charged with sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl.
Armando Cruz-Zambrano, 56, of Norwalk faces charges of first-degree sexual assault, illegal sexual contact with a victim under 16, third-degree assault and interfering with an emergency call, according to Sgt. Ryan Evarts of the Norwalk Police Department.
Evarts said police received a complaint on Sept. 29 indicating an 8-year-old was sexually assaulted. The police department’s Special Victims Unit investigated and obtained a warrant for Cruz-Zambrano’s arrest.
According to Evarts, Cruz-Zambrano was charged after he was pulled over by detectives while driving on East Avenue. His bond was set at $2 million and he is scheduled to appear before a judge on Nov. 19.
