Daniel Pearl Case: Sindh Government Challenges Decision

KARACHI: Sindh government has decided to challenge the release of the accused in the Daniel Pearl murder case in the Supreme Court.

Sources in the prosecution said that the legal team is reviewing the Sindh High Court verdict and an appeal will be filed tomorrow.

A two-member bench of the Sindh High Court yesterday issued orders to release the accused journalists Fahad Naseem Ahmed, Syed Salman Saqib, and Sheikh Mohammed Adil in the murder of US journalist Daniel Pearl while converting the death sentence of Ahmed Omar Sheikh to seven years in prison.

Today, the Sindh government has detained three suspects who have been released in the murder case of US journalist Daniel Pearl after a court verdict.

According to a notification issued by the government, orders have been issued for detaining the accused under a specific peace ordinance.

The United States has expressed concern over the release of the nominees in the Daniel Pearl murder case.
